POLITICAL POLICE "INSPECTORS" HARASS FAMILY OF DR. BISCET By Ana Luisa López Baeza, Cuba Free Press.
HAVANA - Men who said they were Electric Company inspectors visited the home where Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet Gonzalez is staying and threatened the owner of the home, Estela Mendez Ruiz, 72, that she will be made to pay a high fine because she has been defrauding this state-owned enterprise.
Dr. Biscet's wife, Elsa Morejon Garcia, told this agency that she, as well as Estela Mendez denied the accusation of fraud from the alleged "inspectors" and showed them the receipts proving they have paid between 30 and 40 pesos monthly for their electricity.
"This meter is not sealed and the indicator has been altered," one inspector said, pointing to their electricity meter on the house exterior.
Dr. and Mrs. Biscet-Gonzalez believe that the threat is a new tactic being used by the political police to force Estela Mendez Ruiz to evict the couple and their son from the home.
Mrs. Biscet-Gonzalez said, "It happens that when the 'inspectors' arrived on Friday, there was also a police investigator at the home because we had filed a formal complaint with the National Police unit in Lawton for all the incidents that have taken place in the home. On October 7, someone threw an explosive container on the front porch. And now this, which is only just another form of harassment."
